The Quality Science Education Micro Credential
Now more than ever, we must arm students with the critical thinking skills needed to make scientifically sound quality-based decisions in a world steeped with rapid technological innovation. The pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech, animal health and consumer goods industries work to promote and protect patient health around the world. At the heart of our ability to affect patient lives is the necessity to develop and manufacture products that consistently meet the intended quality in a way that is supported by scientific research and data.
Confidence in product safety and efficacy is grounded in quality science; however, until now students have not had an opportunity to obtain education in Quality Science specific to, and prior to entering these industries. Regulators and industry leaders are collaboratively working to end the cycle of today’s failures and recalls, which requires a step-change in the approach to how we are preparing students to take their place in our industry. The Quality Science Education program is designed to accelerate the time in which new professionals reach the desired functioning level, and reduce risk to patients, products and the overall business.
How Does the Program Work?
In support of the mission and vision of the Chief Quality Officers Forum to “Create Quality for the 21st Century,” Pathway for Patient Health led the formation of a fully supported, holistic Quality Science Education curriculum that can be:
Adopted by any school around the world to offer to their students as an on-demand or on-campus program. The entire program is given to universities for free by Pathway. For more details, visit the University Page.
Taken by enrolled students for FREE through Pathway for Patient Health (once approved) in order to work towards achieving the Quality Science Education micro credential. The 3 industry-specific courses are offered as free, on-demand classes, while the business and microbiology courses are taken through the student’s school. For more details, visit the Student Page.
Taken by non-students through Pathway for Patient Health (once approved) in order to work towards the Quality Science Education micro credential. Non-students pay tuition to ensure commitment, and help defer the cost of expenses. For more details, visit the Industry Page.
Outcome of this Program?
The holistic approach of our Quality Science Education program combines the science, regulatory and business acumen needed to:
Mobilize enterprise-wide quality effectiveness grounded in science, data, stakeholder awareness and regulatory intelligence.
Proactively anticipate and manage risk, optimize value and provide objectivity.
Understand the business in which employees operate, and how to positively affect the outcome.
Establish innovative systems to increase the right-first-time rate of cross-functional stakeholders, thus bolstering consumer and regulatory confidence in product safety, efficacy and intended use.
The Quality Science Education curriculum is not a “training” program; instead, it is a rigorous, intensive plan of study grounded in science that yields career-ready professionals who are adept in the field of quality science. Graduates of the Quality Science Education program enter their desired profession with the skills necessary to increase the assurance of product quality, safety and efficacy.
